MY STORY
I’m Tana Kelley, and my love for news and storytelling sparked early in life. Originally from Pretoria, South Africa, I moved to the U.S. as a child and grew up in Portland, Oregon. It was there that my passion for journalism first took root. I joined the school newspapers in middle and high school, eventually becoming photo editor for The Trojan Horse, my high school’s paper.
My journey into broadcast journalism truly began when I moved to Missouri to attend the University of Missouri. I dove into the world of TV news by getting involved with MUTV, the student-run station, and soon after, I started reporting, anchoring, and working as a live operator and photographer at KOMU, the local NBC affiliate. Over the years, I’ve traveled across the U.S.—from South Bend, Indiana, to Spokane, Washington—covering stories that matter. I’ve reported on everything from crime and court cases to city elections, the aftermath of natural disasters, and so much more.
Throughout my career, I’ve always sought out new challenges. I believe growth comes from pushing myself to connect with our audience in meaningful, fresh ways.
Although I eventually left the newsroom, my goal to help people hasn’t changed. At Redfin, I educate potential home buyers and sellers navigating the often overwhelming housing market. Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions we make, and Redfin is there to guide clients every step of the way—providing the data and support they need to make informed choices.
